Block Printing Workshops in Berlin

Atelier Māya is a textile research studio and print lab in Berlin, and the city's first research-led block printing atelier. We teach hand block printing, wax resist and natural indigo, and run natural dye experiments with studio-mixed eco-friendly inks, natural dyes and earth pigments on natural fibres.

Everything we teach grows from more than a decade of field research with textile traditions across India, Southeast Asia and Africa. Find your way into the studio below.

Block Print Berlin is Atelier Māya’s public workshop series, taught in small groups with a two-metre print table for every participant. Workshops run in seasonal sets throughout the year. No experience needed.

Block Print Berlin: Block Printing, Wax Resist & Indigo

Hand-carved wooden blocks, molten wax and natural indigo vats. Learn how resist transforms cloth as pattern slowly emerges through dye, time and material. Rooted in our field research, for curious beginners and artistic explorers.

Block Print Berlin: Introduction to Block Printing

Berlin's original block printing workshop, developed and hosted by Atelier Māya. An introduction to hand block printing through Print Thinking and heritage craft research, working with hand-carved wooden blocks, studio-mixed eco-friendly inks and natural fibre textiles. For beginners and anyone wanting a research-led way into block printing.

Block Print & Sashiko: Māya × Keiko Experience

A full-day workshop bringing together two heritage techniques. Print natural fabric with hand-carved blocks and eco-friendly inks, then build on that surface with Japanese sashiko stitching to create a wearable or functional textile piece. Suits beginners and experienced makers alike. Also available as a one-to-one or private group booking.

Private Print Sessions are four- to five-hour one-to-one masterclasses in Atelier Māya's print studio, shaped entirely around what you want to learn and make. Focus on block printing, wax resist, natural dye or colour mixing at your own pace. Suitable for beginners and experienced makers.
