Atelier Māya Summer Print Lab 2026

August 17 to 21, '26

A five-day textile research intensive exploring print thinking, block printing, responsible colour systems, wax resist, indigo, and contemporary material practice.

In June, applications will open for the inaugural Atelier Māya Summer Print Lab. The Summer Print Lab is a research-focused, research-intensive textile program at the atelier.

Over 5 days, participants will engage with block printing, indigo, wax resist, botanical colour, low-impact textile inks, and contemporary surface design, guided by Print Thinking and Responsible Colour Systems.

Taking place at Atelier Māya in Berlin, the program unites a selected international group of artists, designers, and material-led makers for an immersive studio practice centred on cloth, colour, and material exploration.

This is not a traditional craft workshop or hobby retreat.

This intensive provides a guided atelier experience in which participants progress through connected explorations of indigo, resist, print, pigment, botanical colour, and cloth development in a contemporary print studio and textile research setting.

The atmosphere of the atelier is slow, focused, experimental, and process-led.

Limited to four participants, the Summer Print Lab offers an intimate atelier environment centred on experimentation, discussion, and material exploration.

About Atelier Māya

Atelier Māya is a block printing atelier and textile research studio operating as a contemporary print lab in Berlin.

The studio explores block printing, indigo, responsible colour systems, and surface design through field research, heritage craft study, and ongoing atelier practice.

The work builds on ongoing study with master craftsmen and textile practitioners across Asia and Africa and continues through small-scale studio production, workshops, and material experimentation in Berlin.
